    Hello,

sorry its not something technical... but...

is 1800$ ok for a 8730w with the following spec? :)
    New HP 8730w Core2 Xtreme 3.06GHz 17" WUXGA quadro fx3700, 8GB 250G W7, 3year warranty

Its on ebay from a top-rated seller, also see "eBay buyer protection" sticker but i have never ordered anything from ebay before. Could anything go wrong? :)

    Thank You!
    k.

    Price looks bad to me.

$1800 for a notebook with an old CPU, old GPU...

Assuming that's a dual-core, the price seems a tad high for what you get (since that's an older model), but there's nothing inherently wrong with it that I can tell offhand.

Hmm? I think the quadro fx3700 is still a brutal 256bit card and as i see you are also using it. :)

Are you going to be using programs that need CUDA? If not, the FX3700M might be a bit of a waste and you might as well go for an ATI solution. You might also want to consider looking at the HP business outlet. I see several quad core 8740w workstations for about $1800 with WUXGA screens and FX3800Ms... although they are admittedly i7-720QMs, and some of them are scratch and dent.

The card is still good, but the price isn't great.

I would get what Judicator suggested, FX 3800M + i7.
