Here is an updated list of BIOS releases available for all relatively recent HP business notebooks (natively supporting Windows 7). All of the BIOS images linked from here are original and unmodified, hosted at HP's very own FTP server.

Please refrain from posting BIOS issues in this thread, unless the issue stems from here due to inaccurate information. If you are encountering a specific problem that pertains to the BIOS, please create a separate thread for it in the appropriate forum section. You will likely have a much better chance at receiving a response in doing so. If you find a BIOS update or would like to make a suggestion or request for this thread, please post here.

WARNING!

Business notebooks with a BIOS version of F.20 or higher cannot be flashed to a version that is lower than F.20. In addition, these new BIOS revisions can also detect unsupported and/or unauthorized modifications. You will permanently lose or be unable to use some of the BIOS modifications that have been posted in the forums if version F.20 or higher is applied. If these modifications are essential and your notebook is running a version that is lower than F.20, you may not want to update to the latest available revision.

hiya justin, on the 8740W could you make a note that the F.20 Bios does NOT include the VBios Updates for the 2800M/3800M and 5000M Nvidia Quadro Card.

You need to use the F.0B bios to get the Vbios upgrades.

Since driver 250.13 you need to be using the updated vbios or there will be lockups on the system.

I think it's advisable to explain what's the purpose of the "Secure Erase" function now included in F.20 BIOSes. Some people have asked this. You can find my own (and so-so accurate) explanation here.

I hope this helps.

 

I replied to your explanation - I think this function is especially useful if the notebook is using an SSD (it may be exclusive to Intel SSDs, although I have not completely verified this). I'm learning about this function just like everyone else.

No, it's impossible to downgrade once your notebook is at F.20.

You can replace the system board but I don't think that would be a feasible workaround.

Same update also came for 8460p and It's something VERY strange with this bios!

I just flashed it, and before that my OCZ Vertex 3 Max iops 120GB SSD scored well over 500MB sequential read speed. But with the latest bios, it only manages Sata 300 speed, under 300MB!

Any ideas! This is very anoying.

After flashing back to sp54772, everything is back to normal.

 

i have a turbo boost issue now passing from F03 to F22 on my hp 8560w ...went back yo F20 still the issue !! any way to have a F21 link for the HP 8560w ...

is there any official infos about that issue ?
