Looking at the two, they seem to be nearly identical in mechanicals & chassis design (albeit a different material).

HP 425 Notebook PC specifications - HP Small & Medium Business products
The 425 is cheaper ($499 after rebate) when put up against a similarly equipped 4425s ($619), so is the difference just the latter's aluminum finish?
I assume as a business notebook that either one is more durable than anything from the consumer Presario/Pavilion line?

Not sure, judging by pictures its pure plastics+different touchpad without integrated buttons. It doesnt look bad, only thing i wish it had separated left/right buttons on 425. Deal breaker for me
On the other hand, i cant say that for sure if its a bad or a good thing so if you can, go and see them in stores
edit: Took a closer look at some pictures, it seems that 42x/62x series has Elitebook-like keyboards and not like those on Probook 4xxx series which now could make me reconsider one over another, since i didnt quite like the feel of 4520s keyboard i tested.
Ok, one more last edit - 620/420 (those with Intel not AMD inside) dont support Arrandale CPUs, only older Core 2 Duo and Celeron cpus from Penryn (?) series. Which means there is no way you can upgrade it later on with, say, Core i3 when you want more power and peace of mind with having newer architecture and slightly better integrated graphics.
Imo its better to buy 4xxx series with Intel CPUs rather than AMD atm, unless youre on really tight budget
Or wait for another few months and see what AMD and Intel bring to the market. But if you cant wait and still can afford to spend couple of bucks more, id go for intel. -
I was originally considering a consumer G42T, but figured the HP 425 was probably the better buy.....
