So get this, im having continual issues with random capitalization almost like either the shift key is stuck down or the caps lock is triggered. This happens without any warning and usually you can't get it off until you press shift and caps a few times. Additionally when this happens the light on the key is never on. What's even stranger is it only happens every 2 or so days.

    I've done the following:
    - Gone through regional settings/keyboard configuration in control panel.
    - Reset the BIOS to factory settings
    - Reinstalled the keyboard driver
    - Contacted HP and they've replaced the keyboard

Extra Info: the laptop is ex demo

    Has anyone experienced this before?

Unusual behaviour that will be hard to catch since it occurs every 2 days or so. If you were to use Linux for 2 days then it would eliminate the possibility o any malicious software filling your keyboard buffer.

Though if I was in your situation, I'd suggest you request HP to swap out the systemboard. It's more than likely some intermittent hardware fault with the keyboard controller IC.

If I remember correctly, there was some people in the Hp business forum with a related problem with their respective 8460p's. I had it with mine but a reboot always worked to disabe it. I have sold the machine since but I vaguely remember a BIOS update fixed that.
    Good luck with your problem!

We ended up completely rebuilding it from the OS up including new BIOS drivers and sent it back to the client. I guess all we can do is wait and see! Thanks for the input!
