    Hey guys,

I've got an old Elitebook 840 G1 with the (terrible) 1366x768 display. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 1920x1080 display, but after a bit of research I haven't been able to figure out if the higher res display is compatible or not. The only thing I can find is an Ebay listing that mentions I may need to also upgrade the video connector cable to a dual-channel cable.

This might be a long shot, but has anyone here done the upgrade?

    Any info would be awesome.

    Cheers.

All you need to do is go to HP support website and download service manual pdf for your laptop.
In that PDF you'll see if there is one or two display cables available. Same place will also tell you the spare part number for the dual channel cable should you need it, so you can look for it.

Same pdf also has step-by-step instructions how to change said parts, so it is a must have anyways. Off to hp.com you go :)

Thanks, that's awesome. I never thought to actually RTFM, haha.

Edit: Had a look in the manual, it doesn't actually say anything about different display cables. Can I assume that there's only one cable?

    Cheers!
