I am using a HP Elite Book 8540p with Windows XP 32-bit and 4GIG of RAM.
The RAM is two (2-gig) sticks. The computer was becoming flaky so I was running some test. The RAM had errors in Memtest86+. However, when I took the laptop home from work it would no longer get the errors.
I tested it again and the RAM tests bad in Memtest86+ only if the keyboard is plugged into one of the two USB ports on the right side of the laptop. ?
The keyboard is a standard HP USB keyboard. I tried my coworker's HP USB keyboard and again the RAM tested bad.
Today I tested 3 different 2GIG sticks in each of the slots in the laptop. I had an extra stick from a HP DM1Z. I thought maybe one of the slots were bad. The RAM still tested bad with the external keyboard plugged into the right side of the laptop.
What is even crazier is if I plug the mouse into a right side USB port the RAM tests fine.
I do not understand why it would be doing this.
Thanks

Try by disabling legacy USB in F10 and run the memory test again.
