    Hi,

I have the same problem as they have here except the laptop model.

I have recently updated the bios version to the last one (F-20) and then, the problem begun. I don't really know if it's linked up but it seem impossible to get back to the previous bios as they said previous BIOS versions can no longer be installed.

what PSU are you using for the notebook?

There have been a few that no longer work since bios F.20, this is an issue on the 8740W also.

    Thanks for reply.

The PSU is the 150W model and the series is the HSTNN-HA09, HP part No 608429-002.

Can you please show me the thread with the same issue on the 8740w model?

its just been commented on in our owners thread a few times, i have also noticed it on my own machine.

I would request a new PSU from HP. as there may be a noise issue in the circuit which is making the laptop reject the power (as in switching it off) does your PSU buzz in any way when it's plugged in? and does the little PSU light stay on when you switch on the laptop?

    Cheers.
