My thought is, if there is a possibility to change gpu belated I would stay for a lot of years with that notebook. Than i think everything is exchangeable and could be reconditioned step by step.
Now my question is this possible? It dosent matter how difficult that exchange might be.

These GPU's are soldered to motherboard. So no actual possibility to change them. Manufacturers don't seem to notice how important that is to power users/enthusiasts and only rarely some notebook models have interchangable graphics (even then choice is very limited or outdated). Haven't heard HP did this on their business models (or any).
So only way for you is to try eGPU setup (search for it) - a stationary solution. Here's your challenge ;P -
But if you have a FirePro M5950 and want to change to a Quadro (2000M for example) you will also need to change the heatsink.
nico92, I guess you would probably like to get the Kepler/GCN based GPU, well it could work (if it's MXM-A) but the problem is the heatsink (the layout of the GPU card needs to be the same as now) and there could also be a BIOS lock.
EDIT: Go here: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03424153/c03424153.pdf
And go around page 88~89 -
Thanks for correction. I thought there were only some dells with that MXM (or similar) slot, but clearly I'm not that well informed
From the choices he has there's not much performance difference. What could be the Kepler/GCN based GPU's ? -
As for the choices my guess would be the cards that the 8570w uses, but I don't know when it comes to the compatibility of the heatsink and if the BIOS supports it (if locked). -
I'm very much interested in this, too.
I just came here to see if anyone has upgraded the GPU of his 8560w. I guess changing the heatsink and stuff would be ok, but if the BIOS is locked then it's over anyway.
It would be great to change the GPU to a new one. I was planning on upgrading te CPU to an i7 and the GPU to anything that's fast. Doesn't matter if it's a consumer type GPU or a Quattro or FirePro.
Did anyone do that and has some instructions?
An eGPU isn't a solution for me. I would have built a desktop if I wanted something stationary.
