Does HP package the vbios with the bios for the notebook?
I think I read that somewhere..

If it's true, might be worth checking the HP download site for the bios and see if the vbios is there.

I looked in the 8710 system bios download, it wasn't there. You probably read that in a thread about 3800m like i did a few minutes ago :p

Unless by package you mean literally, while the notebook is running... which is how it works.
For all I know the 8710p 1600m doesn't have any EEPROM at all. :(

    Unrelated:
I bought what was supposed to be a lenovo 3800m for 190$, and it turned out to be a 3700m totally different from what they pictured.

Needless to say that was awfully disappointing. The stock clocks are ridiculously high and I've never ever seen one benched/overclocked.

Just download the 8710p system bios from HP's website and use ADDCCV3 to decompress it. One of the output files will be the vbios.

I tried that, maybe I didn't do it right.

What do you need ADDCCV3 for?

I've decompressed with the installer which gives me rom.cab, sp39178.cva, wssp39178.rtf and hpqflash.exe

    Then I decompressed rom.cab to give me rom.bin, rom.sig, ver.sig and ver.txt

In any case I think I can figure it out soon with Nvflash, I have several of the actual cards, they just really do not work on clevos at all as far as vbios and bios support.

rom.bin is compressed. Need ADDCCV3 to decompress it into it's various components. You'll get over 17 separate files including: logo, DSDT table, vbios, F10-setup, bootblock, etc.
