Hi everyone I am new member of this forum as you can see .I am very happy that I found forum with so much owners of HP Elitebook’s and hoping that I can find some answers.

    My machine: Eliitebook 8560w, I7 2670QM ,HD+(1600x900),AMD ATI Firepro 5950M , 16GB 1333DDR3, 750GB 7200RPM…. OS-Windows 7 Pro 64.

Problems …don’t know from where to start…….with bigger ones….

-Idle temperatures of CPU- 46⁰C,GPU-50⁰C after 2-3 hour working on Word, Excel, 3-4 IExplorer(surfing internet) goes to CPU-56⁰C ; GPU-54⁰C.All the time CPU works on 1197Mhz,GPU 725Mhz Memory 900.

-Play Battlefield 3(medium settings) after 15min. CPU-85⁰C, GPU-73⁰C. All the time CPU works on 2793Mhz,GPU 725Mhz Memory 900.

-Test with Prime95 after 10 min. temperature of CPU went to extremely 92⁰C and I stopped test.Clock-2793Mhz

Fan works on 3 steps : Never stops on my PC , after 55⁰C goes faster and after 85⁰C fasts.

And I know “sandy bridges” are not so hot for some models of ASUS,SONY,LENOVO even the other models of HP like this one: Review: HP Envy 17 3D (Early 2012) - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
,the temperature not exceed 80⁰C although they test with wPrime+Furmark , if I do this with mine I can’t imagine ………but never mind.

For me is more import to understand how your PC(Elitebook) works at similar conditions. I mean what is idle temperature of your machines, if you tested with Prime95, wPrime or played game such as Battlefield3 what are your temperature CPU-GPU, clock etc.

Please share your experience with me. Is this normal for Elitebook’s or not……
    Thanks in advance.

Your idle temp is pretty ok but load is a bit on the high side. I suggest you to reapply thermal paste for CPU and GPU. You will probably get 5-10C lower temperature.

I wonder which version of BIOS you are using. I have 8460P with 2670QM and CPU Turbo Boost is disabled by HP.

You have already asked this question, the title is abit misleading, your laptop is NOT overheating, those temps are within spec, look-up your CPU on Intel's website. The other thing to keep in mind is the dust and water resistant aspects of your laptop, HP had to seal these up pretty good to pass the MIL Spec's for drops, dust and liquids. I understand your concerns but I don't think you have anything to worry about, use the laptop as intended, running prime 95 all day is not part of that equation, the gaming temps are OK and if it bothers you too much do the repaste and invest in a Good SSD, you'll get much snappier performance, longer battery life and lower temps, my 8460w boots the Samsung 830 256GB to windows in like 15 seconds, its WAY faster than the 500GB drive that came with it.

I ask again because I still don’t have answer from other 8560w Elitbooks owners which are make test or they just have other information which will be helpful for me.(as you told me for repast with Arctic 5 and to not update BIOS to F.22)

Yes I know I7 CPU work temperature is up to 100⁰C but 92⁰C it’s too close. And he not overheat only because I stop the test.

Have you spoke with HP tech support about the issues you are having?

It could be you have some dust build up. Your idles do seem ok but I also think it was a bad pasting job done.

Yes I spoke with HP tech support, and they want to give my machine on service.
But I am not agree with them for several reasons:
-This is new laptop(purchased on 02.2012)
-They not give me information data what are should be temperature in same condition.
-I do not trust on service. If finally its necessary to repast better to do myself.
And I cannot understand how it possible in such big forum like this, no one write what is his temperature (how his machine work) in same condition like mine?
    Thanks for answer Tony211
