    Hi all,
I have one HP EliteBook 8740w with Windows 2008 x64 and I'm looking for a CardBus ethernet Gigabit.

The problem is that there is no eth cardbus giga drivers for Win 2008 x64..
Somebody is using this card in his HP EliteBook 8740w with 2008 x64?
    ..Some suggestions?

    Thanks!

That sounds like a no name card so specific information would be needed.

Open device manager, look for the device and open it's properties. Select Details tab and from the drop-down list choose Hardware Ids. Type here what you find there or google them yourself: Ven_xxxx Dev_xxxx should give you ideas what that card actually is and then you will eventually find chipset manufacturer's website / drivers.

ok, you need to realise win 2008 X64 uses the windows VISTA kernel.

Therefore Drivers for windows Vista, WILL WORK on windows server 2008.

if it is windows server 2008 R2, then it will need Windows 7 drivers.

    Hope that helps.

Well then... Stop now what you are doing and take a second look on your computer. I'm looking at the specs and 8740w apparently does not have pcmcia/cardbus port anymore, instead it has only Expresscard 54.

i've only personally used the belkin one before, which works on most host os'es with drivers.

you will need to get a 34-54 stabiliser - this is just a small piece of plastic which slots onto the side of the 34mm card to stop it wobbling in the gap made.

there are USB->Ethernet adaptors which are less obtusive that the expresscard ones, as i found i hit it alot using the mouse. (i am left handed)
