Just wanted to share my experience and "kinda" brag too.

    I recently finished my project of installing a Boe-Hydis HV121WX5-113 AFFS+ screen in my wife's HP 2530p. Here's how:
After she smashed her old display: a Samsung LTN121W3-L01 I was looking for a cheap replacement for this aging but still formidable machine.

On ebay I could find used HP 2710p tablet screens for little money, while the 2530p compatible screens were only new and about triple the price. Reviews praised the Boe-Hydis HV121WX5-113 as being a formidable screen with great viewing angles and color reproduction (compared to the screens that are compatible with the 2530p)

The Samsung screen I took out uses 20pins + 8 pins for the inverter, while the Boe-Hydis I purchased has a single 40pin. As I could find HP 2530p LCD cables with 40pins, I figured it would be a simple swap job. So I ordered a used 40pin HP 2530p cable.

When both items arrived, I found out that while the cable and the LCD panel both have 40pins, the connector is completely different and the pinout is also incompatible.

Having made the initial investment I decided to go for it and risk adapting the screen+cable combo to each other.

I cut both the connector that came with the Boe-Hydis HV121WX5-113 screen and the 40pin replacement cable for the 2530p and after a thorough (10 or so hours) preparation started the welding job. I got the pinouts from the spec sheets of the respective screens. For an HP 2530p compatible screen with 40pins I took the spec sheet of a LG LP121WX3-TLA1.

The result of the soldering job can be seen in the pictures. It is quite messy and took me almost a fullday to do it. Since the 2710p cable that came with the screen actually uses coaxial cables with extremely thin internal wires I hot-glued the soldered wires between two sheets of plastic foil to make them more stable.

The right cable is the 20pin that was in my 2530p with the Samsung screen, in the middle is my creation and the left bit is the 40pin connector I cut off from the other 2530p.

Additionally it turned out that the Boe-Hydis LCD, due to its glass overlay is about 2mm thicker than the screens used in the 2530p. This makes it impossible to fit the plastic screen front frame flush. As a result there are gaps all around the corners of the plastic frame and the display lid can be closed only with pressure of about 1,5kg.

So in conclusion, this is not a mod I would recommend to anyone. The time lost in doing this and the optically unpleasing end result (gaps around the screen), outweight the eventual cost saving and the superior screen quality you get when doing the mod.

Ok just a simple question, where did you get the screen?

Your downsides to your mod don't seem to be that daunting when compared to the task of soldering a whole new connector
on to the cord. Clipping or sanding some plastic away would be a breeze. But the whole thing still sounds like a fun time, if
you like that sort of exercise. Hope everything is still working.

    Very nice try !
The glass overlay can be removed using a cutter blade... very carefully !
I removed mine in 5 minutes. After that, the LCD fits very well inside its cage.
I'm also trying to change my stock screen by the same than yours. I started a thread here. The work is not finished yet.

@ APsyanideA : you can find the HV121WX5-110 for less than 40€ on ebay

If you could put together a diagram of the two cables together to conclude, I really, really be grateful!
