So after much research, I have determined that there IS a 1600x900 screen option for the 2560P.
Take a look at HP "QS502US#ABA"
The description comes up in HP's system with PEPCO in the description. This makes me think that this was a special contract machine custom built to fulfill a large corporate purchase.
I was able to locate one of these machines recently and am waiting for it to arrive. Once I do, I will verify my thoughts and post the LCD part number for all who wish to make the swap.
Has anyone else seen this exact configuration before?
Thoughts?

As there is zero 1600x900 LCD systems available, such a find with *an affordable* swap option along with the 2560P's socketted CPU upgrade options would put the 2560P in a league of it's own. -
I hope it is too. Probably a premature post, but I was excited
This is what I'm seeing everywhere;
"PEPCO HP 2560P CORE I7-2620M DC CPU 12.5 HD+ PANEL DVD+/-RW 260GB HARD DRIVE"
Take a look here...
Compsource
This is a generic pull of some central product database that many online resellers tap into. You will notice that the resolution is listed as 1600x900 (WSXGA). Further notice that the hard drive is 260GB. The quickspecs and partsurfer doesn't list this option as far as I can tell either.
WSXGA = HD+ = 1600x900
We shall see. I'm crossing my fingers.
I was able to find the partsurfer listing for the laptop, but there was no mention of an LCD assembly. only RAM, CPU, mainboard, hard drive, etc. -

can't you do scaling to get 1600x900 on a 1366 x 768 screen, it won't look great but it should work if you need the resolution.
HP 2560P available with HD+ (1600x900) LCD??? Lets all find out!!!
