I´m playing around with the Consumer Preview booted as a .vhd on my 8560w.
As not everything is working as with my Win 7 Enterprise I figured, that some of you might also be "early adopters" or at least playing around like me with the new system...
and that we could share some information with each other here.
Let´s see - what works sofar and what´s not:
my Nvidia Quadro 2000M has gotten brand new drivers from Nvidia
(296.17-notebook-win8-64bit-international-preview)
Can´t really access my embedded UMTS chip or doing anything wrong sofar - has anyone gotten UMTS with the Connection Manager up and running?
I can turn on WWAN and turn it off again - doing so in Win 7 provoked a SIM unlock after entering the PIN code, in Win 8 nothing happens...
Did anyone get Fingerprint Reader working?
-
update: the Validity Fingerprint Driver 4.3.216.0 doesn´t install unter Win 8... too bad, I really love just signing in with my finger in Win 7.
Did a new install in a 500GB HDD in the DVD Slot today, now dual booting with selecting either my normal drive 0 = SSD or upgrade bay 1 = HDD -
anyone played around with the Windows 8 Release Preview 64-Bit (x64) from 31.05.2012 yet?
I´m just backing up my drives and will do a clean install on the SSD this morning -
Fingerprint works now - thanks to a blog post here:

You can download a working fingerprint driver directly at Validity:
Validity - Biometric Fingerprint Sensors - Download Windows 7 Software for Validity Fingerprint Sensors
Now all I need is a driver for my internal 3G card (HP hs2340 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband)....
Any idea? -
Ok, found a working driver for the HSDPA card at a Microsoft Forum:

Bumping this, as I missed the flashing screen warning until it happened to me just as I was almost finished tweaking it out...and had no roll back times, as I disable that right away. Therefore I got to install Windows 8 twice today. Yay.
I have the fingerprint driver installed, but is there any working fingerprint SOFTWARE? The 7 one broke my 8 install.
8 Enterprise RTM x64. -
the above mentionend driver from Validity installs a Fingerprint software, too
at least in my case (with either preview and now with the RTM MSDN) it works perfectly.
what error do you get? -

I'll try reinstalling that software then, because I didn't see anything letting me set up fingerprints or auto-login.
As for the error, the screen just flashed black & blue. Cursor could be seen moving around, but it couldn't boot into Windows. -
i need help plz
i install Windows 8 pro and i download the last driver for quadro 2000m but the problem sometimes i can't login to Windows
just a black screen after boot
is this problem of bios ? -
Fingerprint Reader worked fine

thanks repman244
now when i installed updates of Windows i have this problem ; and i resolve it with remove the battery
why when i remove the battery the problem resolved ? -
The 8560w doesn't officially support Windows 8 yet...it could be chipset drivers, it could be anything. It's best if you wait for all the drivers for Win 8 to be ready.
It takes a bit longer for workstations to be ready for new OS due to extensive driver testing etc. -
thank you ; since Windows 8 test version and hp do not anything ? ... i will wait
-
Yes it will take a bit longer but I'm sure that Windows 8 will eventually be fully supported. -
I´m running Win 8 Enterprise 64bit for months now without any stability problems or errors.
