    Hello,
i have an hp 8740 with i7-640M (XT913UA) with 8gb RAM and i want to upgrade it to 16 gb.
I call HP and they say that the module of 8gb ram are not supported on dual core.
Anyone have upgrade his dual core with 16 gb ram? Does it work good or it crash?
I use this workstation for cad application and i must have an affidable notebook.
    Thanks all!

when i tried playing about with memory changes, the dual cores were very unstable after 8GB. I did get it to work with 2x8GB sticks, but that was in a quad board, so things may be different. I've not been able to get 2x8GB working in a dual core board.

HP could have fixed it so the board did support 16gb, as the dual cores can address that much, its just a shame they chose not to.

Not much we can do about it, as the dual core boards are pretty limited.
