    Hi!
Ok, I got my new screen for 8570w. As grape882008 did not have the screen, It took a long time to find one that had that screen. These screens have become very rare.

I got the full screen assembly and it's working.

Now I wish to calibrate the display, but I don't have the special "HP DreamColor Colorimeter" or X-Rite device to calibrate the screen. The gamma seems very high.
I bought the X-rite eye-one display 2 that looked like the dreamcolor version, but the "HP DreamColor Calibration Solution" software is not detecting it.

My question now: what kind of calibration have you guys used, if any? Right now I'm using DisplayCAL, but I feel that it's not using the full potential of DreamColor display. Meaning, that it's not changing the RGB led colours or writing the profile directly to the Color Board inside the screen.

It's been a while, since you've posted this, but none the less here's my feedback:

I didn't want to give the kidney for the dreamcolor calorimeter either, so I bought instead the colormunki, which is, in essence, the same thing and also got it on a bargain, so wasn't much of a brainer. I do photography and video editing on the side, so color representation was important for me. Imagine the bummer feeling when neither the dreamcolor board, nor any of the calorimeters I've tried (I've also tried with a spyder 3 elite) worked. Thus far I haven't been able to calibrate my screen. My brightness control doesn't work either (assuming it's because of the unsupported quadro k3100m I've got in my 8760w), so the calibration is just another drop in the ocean. Nonetheless the color representation is a ton better than what it used to be with the old TN panel, and seems to be pretty accurate (grape882008 asked me what panel I was gonna use specifically, so I'm assuming he has given me a color board, that's been pre-calibrated for the specs of the specific panel).

If you manage to find a way out of this article 22 loop, lemme know - I'd be interested in giving the panel a shot at even more accurate calibration.

    Cheers,
    V./

Question, If I buy the whole panel, this guy here https://world.taobao.com/item/536464938747.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.yrujvc#detail sells it for about $175 USD, for the
8770W upper part of the dreamcolor CD screen assembly LCD screen can I just only swap it with my NON - DC panel from my 8770W Full HD? Would this is going to work? Is this all I need?

Hi, I just found grape88208, on a different website, also has English language too, anyway, they sell the whole upper part of the dreamcolor CD screen assembly LCD screen, for only $105 USD whit shipping! I am wondering if buying the whole thing and just swap it with my non DC 8770W would work... But I guess I`ll take the chances for only $105 USD...

You should contact the seller. This is not the final price, after all there is more than one panel listed.

Hi, please see the link, add description says price for 1-3 pcs @ $80
so I guess if it says so, they do sell only 1 most likely, I sent a message to the seller, didn't got an answer yet.
Anyway, my question is if I but the whole LCD DC Panel, the whole upper part... is this enough to swap it?! Or I have to change my MOBO?!

Only the assembly is required, but I'm certain that you have to tell the seller which model you want.

Hello everyone, I'm interested if anyone got a 4K monitor working with 8770W / 8760W...
More likely the video card (ATI FirePro 4000M) supports 4K, but I'm not sure if Display Port connector would...
I also have an Advanced Docking Station... would be nice to know before I buy a 4K monitor... if not, I'll will go 2560 / 1440. Thanks everyone!

its not broken, it does give video on vga without issues unless i install the driver.
it used to have it on my zbook but the laptop screen stopped working as well the SATA Drivers, mostly a faulty bios.

played GTA V on high settings on it, but cant make it work on my 8770w ;c

Are you sure it's the screen and not the GPU? I personally think that it is the GPU that is dead.

Its not dead, played Besiege without drivers and gave me 5fps, but without errors.
the thing from my laptop was because of the faulty bios that died, ZBook has 2 bios, 1 soldered to Mobo and otherone remove able, idk which one died tho

The driver installation is the one that usually signifies dead GPU, or that it works only on external. In any case, try with modified drivers - if you can't install them - the GPU is dead.

I think we should wait for response from the seller. From his list, there are 4 different models under one item. You don't know which one you will receive. Why are these things so rare in usa but they all in Asia? I don't understand

The answer to question 1 is Yes. I just swapped the complete LCD panel assembly from a 8760w Dreamcolor to a 8770w. And works fine! There is just one issue I can live with. That is 100% brightness setting will dim the screen. But 99% will do for me ;-). Just used the screen replacement chapter from the HP service manual. It's a easy job if you have som patience.

I am using a 27" Dell P2715Q 4K monitor with my 8770w. It worked fine with the original K4000M that was in it, and also works fine with the GTX 980M that replaced it.

Is it possible to swap in a 8770w board in a 8760w chassis? I'd like Ivy Brdige and the ability to add a DC display, as I'm pretty spoiled by it in my 17 G2. Also, I have a Quadro M2000M on the way.

    HI kamilo23,

And Merry Xmas!! All the best!
Any chance you can provide a bit more info on the exact DC you got, any
links, price, store or any info at all?

I am looking for one to change my TNT panel with
but the overall info is so confusing that I am afraid not to get the wrong one.

    Cheers,

Does anyone know why may occur compression/posterisation in dark areas? Middle tones and highlights looks good, but not dark zones. Output color depth in Nvidia control panes set to 10 bpc.

I was forced to switch from my 8760W to a 8770W because I killed my perfectly working 675MX upgrade which I reported in 2014 and cannot find a different 675MX at the moment ..

In the end I now bought an used 8770W with FHD panel. I was hoping to switch around the DC2 screen from my 8760W to the 8770W. The first thing I did was swapping around the panels including cables/bezel. No fiddling with modded videocards, I used the original 8770W K3000M card. But, the 8760W DC2 does NOT work on a 8770W. It shows the BIOS information and Windows logo at startup but when it goes to Windows it produces a black screen (with the backlit turned on though).

I think I am done with this whole Dreamcolor addiction and going to stick with FHD for a while. All this hassling with parts, driver mods and testing works on my nerves too much.

Hi all, I just picked up my 8770w (complete base model i think) with the 900p screen, I've been doing a couple hours of research into the screens (i spent 1 hour alone trying to track down the DC screen and assembly and cables and such). What i'm wondering is.... well since I can't seem to find a straight answer... is am i able to upgrade to a 980m 8GB with modded inf with the 900p display????(EDIT: Or will I have to upgrade to a FHD display?) I'm not sure if the resolution matters...but since i've given up on my DC dream.... i'd like to use just a 980m.... If I've missed something please point me in the right direction...

Yes, it’s damn complicated. Not for the LCD itself, you can still easily find this. But the color board... the color board is something that is pretty much impossible to be found, may be except taobao, but there you really want to have some Chinese or Russian friend, who can give you a hand.

I took apart my non DC 8770W, I was not able to locate the colorboard, to compare it with what I found on AliExpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32821640664.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.5e434c4dt8GUTJ

I even took apart the LCD casing, I wasd not able to locate the colorboard, I also found the needed 50 pin cable too. I`ve read on some forums that someone bogth from Taobao the LCD DC2 from a seller named Grape882008, I found the guy, I placed the order, I made the payment... he canceled the order cause he said if I did not previousely had DC on my 8770W it wont work, so he did`t even bothered to answer my questions... the guy it`s pretty hard to get a few words from him... I probably give up on it and get a
HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 13.3" and just forget about this headache upgrade...

You will not be able to locate the color board, because you have a non DC display - in your case there is no color board behind the screen.

As for your other question - M5000M is around 50% faster than K5100m. Everywhere. No matter the fact both are 8GB, the speed difference is day and night.
    K5100M in 3DMark 11 ~ 7500pts (6800pts GPU scores)
    M5000M in 3DMark 11 - 11000pts (13000 GPU scores)
    M5000M Overclocked in 3DMark 11- 13000pts (15500 GPU scores)
    K5100m in FireStrike - ~4500 pts
    M5000m in FireStrike - 8000 pts (9500 with OC)

What you found on AliExpress is not what you need. Thats just the chip, you need the entire board and the prices are normally around 100-120€, if found at all.

This should be your best bet, but as I said- you need a pal, who can collaborate with the order and shipping as it comes from taobao:

Does the 8770W DC has the Colorboard in the LCD casing? If I buy the DC with whole assembly does it comes with the colorboard and 50pin cable as well?

Thanks for the info regarding the GPU, I am only using the laptop for photo and video editing, since it is so hard to find a Dreamcolor screen and a M5000M with a i7 3940XM CPU and all the hassle with the Dreamcolor display would total something around $900 - $1 000 USD... and it`s damn heavy to carry it around, I have a great job where I can bring my laptop at work and work on my photos, but bringing my 8770W it`s not so convenient... I curently have 3630QM with FirePro M4000it is fine, but I do feel the lack of power sometimes. I would`t mind the upgrade, as long I would upgrade to Dreamcolor too, since it`s so hard to get my hands on a Dreamcolor... I just better invest into a PC...

    And as for something portable I can get a HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 15.6" 4K OLED Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 8565U - NVIDIA GeForce MX150 -16GB DDR4 Memory - 1TB SSD + Optane... for $2 000 USD...

I know, maybe it wont be so powerful as my 8770W, but it`s a lot lighter winch makes portability very convenient and I get that much needed screen since for photo/video image its everything!

There is no such a model as 8750W, there is 8570W which is the 15 inch version of 8770W.
    No way 15” to fit 17” :)
You need the upper part only of 8760/8770W

Ok, I am back again... So, somehow I managed to talk to someone in China, they are willing to send me the DC2 LCD Screen, 50pin Cable and the Colorboard, but the Colorboard comes from a 8560W and I have been told they are the same, the thing is that they do not have the cable from the DC2 LCD to the Colorboard... I am wondering if nyone has a part number for that and what are the odds to find one?
