    Hi,

So I have noticed a bit of a sluggishness in my notebook. I have applied a few of the mods in the different forums and works like a charm.

    1. Loaded the Nvidia Geforce 8600 drivers on the current Quadro FX 570 + a little bit of overclocking on it with no heat issues.

    2. I also flashed the modded bios and I am using throttlestop to gain an extra 200mhz. Its more just for the sake of doing it.

Eventually I found a very nice benchmarking utility. PerformanceTest, it has a large database where you can download results from other people who have tested.

I have downloaded the results from quite a few 8510 users, and it seems my hard drive especially is under par, graphics is a bit over theirs, but ya i tweaked it a bit.

Can someone please have a look at the results and maybe give me a few ideas as to what could cause the drive to be so extremely slow in comparison?

After this test, I have cleaned up the drive a lot, defragged it using smart defrag and deep optimization, I have downloaded and applied the HP drivers again.
I have run scandisk checking for bad sectors, which came back negative, there was nothing wrong with it.

Anyone please have some ideas for me?

    Thanks and Kind Regards,

Try uninstall and let the computer re-detect the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in Device Manager.

Also, check the temperature of your hard drive with HWMonitor or other similiar program.

    Hi Namaiki,

Thanks I tried that, had to reboot of course after I removed it from Device Manage, and no joy with that.

According to HWMon, my drive is running between 29-34 degrees celcius... that shouldn't be a problem though?

Do you or anyone else have an idea that I could try? It really seems like the sequential read and Sequential write is seriously under-performing if you look at the .pdf on the first post?

Oddly enough the random seek doesn't seem to be that far off?

    Thanks in Advance

Thankfully, the temperature is completely normal.

Maybe you could try Hard Disk Sentinel - HDD health and temperature monitoring or other program to check your HDD's S.M.A.R.T. attributes.
