Today I had my 8470p powered on in the docking station at work with the lid closed. I usually tell Windows 7 to hibernate before I undock it, but today I just undocked the laptop without telling it to hibernate, and put it into my laptop bag and went home. Note that in my Windows 7 power options, I have the "Lid closed action on battery" setting to "Do nothing". A few hours later, when I took the laptop out of the bag, it was running EXTREMELY hot. I plugged in the power cable and the laptop started cooling down as I used it with the lid open. Any idea why the laptop would become so hot while running on the battery with the lid closed?

Perhaps the display didn't go off which causes some heat but its more than likely the fact that it was inside a bag which doesn't allow the hot air from the machine to escape.
