    Hi,

I am willing to buy this extraordinary piece of hardware, but first I want to know a few things.

I don't have money to buy the most expensive one (with the latest Intel Core i7 Quad-Core and 32GB of SDRAM) but in short period of time I want to upgrade it with the Quad Core, SSD disk and 32GB of SDRAM.

My question is if this model ''HP EliteBook 8770w LY561EA'' is capable to upgrade to Quad-Core, if there are 4 SODIMM Memory slots available to upgrade the memory to 32GB of SDRAM and if there is room for second hard drive SSD drive?

    Many thanx.

Do a search for 8770w maintenance manual and all the answers will be in there.

The manual states that there are only 4 slots on the i7 models and there are two different system boards, one with 2 slots and one with 4. Unless someone has already added a quad core it's 50/50 on the 2 slot board accepting a quad.

Unlike the smaller versions of this machine it's not exactly extra easy to upgrade or get to the cpu. I'd probably say that you might want to simply save a bit more and go straight for the quad.

There is space for two hard drives and possibly an msata drive. You can also add another drive where the DVD resides.

Get a model that has a Quad core since it's a different motherboard. When it comes to RAM, you will probably find it cheaper to buy/add it yourself.
