    Hey,

I'm currently umm'ing and ahh'ing between the HP ProBook 4330s and the Dell Vostro 3350 as a new machine for my sales director but am a little confused by the heights/thickness quoted in each machine's specification:

    Dell Vostro 3350 - 27.3 - 29.8 mm

    HP ProBook 4330s - 27.9mm

So on paper they're very similar - but in images the HP looks considerably thicker! The HP also has a definite wedge shape so I don't know if the 27.9mm is the minimum or maximum height?

Could anyone who owns one clarify for me? Measurements at the thick & thin end would be much appreciated! :)

The dell vostro 3350 that was reviewed has 8 cells battery, while the basic version comes with 4 cells battery and doesn't have the bulge underneath.

Thanks NoaXD, I'd figured that and imagine the rear of the Dell hits something around the 50mm mark with the 8 cell battery installed.

Ignoring the 8 cell battery though, both laptops have around the same thickness dimension on the specs - yet the HP looks much fatter in the pictures. Look around the VGA port for example.

I'm after a measurement really of the 4330s, from desk to top of the lid at the rear of the laptop - to see if the thickness at this point is greater than that specified or if the difference is an optical illusion!

I just measured my work 4330s and it's 37mm high at the back, 40mm if you include the rubber feet. Hope that helps.

Cheers CowboyCoder - much appreciated and confirmed my suspicions that the 4330s was chunkier than HP suggested!

Went for the Dell 3350 in the end and she seems very impressed with it, certainly a step up in productivity from an Atom-powered NC10 ! :)
