Hey everyone,
This problem has me pretty stumped. I recently loaded Windows 10 Pro onto an M.2 SSD of an HP ProBook 450 G3. I was able to get into Windows, and everything was normal. If I "Restart" the computer, everything is still normal. However, if I "Shut Down" the computer, and it remains shut down for a few minutes, when I boot it back up it doesn't recognize the M.2 SSD. I have to go into the BIOS and select "Reset settings to Factory Default" and let it restart for 3-5 times before it will boot into Windows. This occurs when the laptop is plugged and not plugged in.
I don't believe it's the CMOS battery, because the BIOS is keeping the system time, and it also has the laptop battery.
I've already updated the BIOS to the latest revision.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!

i suspect u may have a bsd error - when u said u loaded win 10 did u perform a clean reformar or just a clone.
the easy fix is a clean reformat. make sure the ssd is the only connected drive.
oh and if formatting via usb install - i use rufus to set up the usb - and choose the EUFI with CSM enabled (which is really just a better version of "legacy" for better compatibility)
take note - HP 's bios would probably force you to deactivate the TPM and bitlocker or the option to be enabled but I would'nt lose any sleep as both the TPM and bitlocker has already been compromised anyway.
Also disable computrace or lo-jack while you're at it.
The only reason to go full UEFI at this point is if you own a drive that has more than 2tb of storage.
truth is UEFI allows for microsoft to download drivers(oroms) that are crucial at POST - a common benefit from this is the use of a nvme ssd as a bootdrive.
imo not a good enough trade-off yet...
