No way, I would choose a matte screen anytime...
-
I believe that BrightView reffers to the quality of the display and not whether it is glossy or not, at least I haven't seen any with the glossy display and about 25 of these went throught my hands, there are some model numbers that do not have the BrightView designation and the screens on those are really bad in comparison, again both were mate. I'll confirm this soon, and just to clearify I'm talking about 5310m not 5320m.

I can even post a picture eventually.
At least two kinds of TFT panels were definately used for different 5310m specifications. -

That's strange -- HP's consumer Pavilion notebooks with Brightview screens are always glossy.
Please do let us know what you find out. I agree the screen on the 5310m is not very good; it gets the job done for me at least. Once calibrated it is not so bad. -
Brightview is glossy, check HP website.

Anybody know when the 5320m will be available?

They must be using different screens, depending on what they have in stock. AFAIK the 5310m was only ever offered with two screens: the standard matte and optional Brightview glossy.
Thanks for the info. -
I'm thinking to buy this laptop, but an important issue is the noise level of the fan.
Especially when the laptop is Idle or only during email and Internet, I don't want to hear the fan.
In this thread there are different thoughts.
Can somebody tell me more about the fan noise? -
Anybody know if this is coming to the states or if HP will release a newer version?
-
I am getting one of these from work on Monday, hope it will work out already, as it's replacement for my current desktop...
-
OK got the laptop from the desktop guys, and it's great.
The screen is matte and this thing is BRIGHT, look a bit different from 5310m in colour. VGA is really handy for presentations.
And it is really fast, my MacBook Pro C2D 2.66 can't handle 4K video on Youtube at all, this one, a little bit lag here and there but is definitely watchable. Don't feel any vibration from the hard drive.
Only complaints are, this thing is too easy to get dirty, especially the track pad. The one I got has a 6 cell battery, which has a extra bit come out from the bottom which make the laptop wobble a bit when typing. -

Awesome, thanks for posting your impressions. Leaving out the VGA port on the 5310m was obviously a design mistake for HP, I'm glad they learned.
It seems the 5320m still can't be found anywhere in the States, which is quite strange. It looks like HP has no intention of bringing the product here. Oh well, here's hoping to a Sandy Bridge version . . . -
To be honest though, I would have loved a ThinkPad, but our IT department are cutting back budget, and for the same spec ThinkPad apparently will cost twice (in the UK).
Good laptop, but if I have to pay myself, I would look elsewhere... -
Hello!
I'm wondering buying a 5320m. Can anyone tell me some word about this machine? I'm interested in battery time, the noise level, and the temperature of the laptop. Is it cool enough to use it on your lap?
The other competitor is SONY VAIO SB, but it is much more expensive (twice), and I don't think it would be worth the plus money.
Thanks a lot -
I was just doing a bit of research on the probook m series and came across this video- it serves as a good basic introduction to the 5320m- hth someone
