Wanted to join the forum, just purchased this

Got it for 499 + no tax + FS this afternoon. Just what I wanted - business laptop build, Sandy Bridge i3/Intel HD 3000 but with HD webcam, BT 3.0, USB 3.0 and 4 gb Ram and 64 bit OS.

Was going for an Elitebook or a Thinkpad 420/X220 but at this price I think the deal was un-put-downable.

The price fluctuates a little so keep checking all day if you also want it.

Any pointers on what to do with a Probook out of the box? Restore discs? Clean Wipe?

Can anyone who got theirs please post some photos? HP's website and the online retailers have been lacking with media for this notebook.

I'm specifically interested in the look and feel of the trackpad. Also any initial impressions would be nice.

    Thanks

Trackpad feels like any other trackpad. I hear lots of complaints on the 4520s so maybe they changed something on it. Even with the i3-2310m its a fairly fast laptop. I've actually changed out for an i7-2720qm and it works save for a few minor quirks. Off the i3-2310 here is what your looking at power wise for the entire system (I did have the screen off and some usb devices will increase this)

    idle - 10w
    surfing - 12-14w
    video - 18-20w
Max in prime - 35w (45 with the quad)

I've only seen a few watts off the screen but no real tests. Off these numbers your looking at 1hr prime, 2 hours video or 3 hours light usage (web, office documents, etc) with the default battery. BTW the website lists the advanced docking station as an option for this model but there are no contacts on the bottom. Also I added 4GB of ram its a decent performance improvment going to dual channel.

    @ewitte

do you have some problem with the 2720qm in the restart mode?

I just put it on but the only problem is that I can't reboot the system because in this case the caps look give a sequence of 3 blinks and after that the display remain black..

    I have F9 bios rev..

    thanks

Here the same problem, when you restart the pc, it gives a 3 times blink error at the caps lock (something with the memory). Otherwise the notebook starts just fine, but only the restart function is not working.

But I also have an other problem. My charger won't charge. The led won't flash up and in windows the battery shows, connected but not charging 96%.

Even when it is off, it won't charge, any idea?

In fact it is a problem with Windows 7. Somehow Windows 7 can be "dangerous" for the laptop batteries - search for "windows 7 kills battery", "consider replacing your battery".

I also found that if the battery is over 95%, windows doesn't charge it anymore (still, I'm looking at my battery and it is 94%, but still it is not charging).
