Alright laptop lovers, HP announced a compelling argument for chaining yourself to a desk (again). Here is a link to the article on Desktop Review. Unfortunately no no one comments over there, so I thought I'd bring it here. Be sure to check out the view under the hood! ( warning, technologically explicit image)
I think this looks amazing and I'd seriously consider this if I was in the market for a new laptop. I'm wondering if this will tempt any of you away from the upcoming Ivy Bridge mobile workstations (8570w and 8770w presumably).
The proposed specs include several Quadro options, but no Firepro GPUs. Does HP white list these GPUs like they do on the laptops? Frankly I'd prefer the ability to install a gaming card.
Also, how are you able to swap CPU and GPU without the need for thermal paste? I've never built a desktop, so maybe I just don't understand the mechanics of it.

may make a nice unit for solidworks at home, still think ill just build a tower though.
cpu is a desktop chip with a mobile gpu ( like iMac ) but unlike that hunk of trash you can change parts easily. ( yes you thermal paste them too knight ). now the question is do I need/ have a use for one -
EDIT: Hmm, I read this on HPfansite:

HP Z1 Workstation
hit graphics tab and scroll to the charts.
500m
1000m
3000m
4000m
no 5010m, no desktop numbers
and doubt your putting a 150-220watt GPU in there
