Hello I was given a zbook 17 with a k610m. am I able to upgrade it to a gtx880m or something like that. like I said it was a gift and I wouldn't use is as a workstation. I would play games on It.

I really don't know how the later Workstations are in terms of upgradeability. In any case if you decide to try, get 780m. It is better and cooler, might be cheaper as well. I can't say anything good about 880m.

If you have the money, but still, the compatibility question is on the table. I'm not aware of anyone who attempted to upgrade ZBook with consumer GPU.

The K610M is half size so you might need a new GPU heatsink as well.
I have the G1 with a K2100M (also half size) and I upgraded to the 860m which is full size.
I was lucky though that my heatsink was the full size one.

Only thing I had to do is modify my driver .inf file which is a 2 second job

I really recommend this laptop so dont get rid of it but please skip the 880m in favour of the 9x0m's

Yes just need the .inf. I am using a Clevo GPU but the VBIOS is actually inside the laptop BIOS so it overrides the GPU one
