    Hello everyone,

Just got my new zbook 15 and i ordered the H2P66AA - "HP Upgrade Bay 750GB 7200rpm HDD".

I took off the back and removed the DVD drive as prescribed in:
    http://homepage.univie.ac.at/markus.gronemann/ubook-specs/hp/msg/zbook15.pdf
    on PDF page 55

but when i try to put in my new upgrade bay HDD - it does not fit - and I did not want to force it.

Was wondering if anyone else might have had any experience with this - either with the zbook 15 or the H2P66AA HP Upgrade Bay 750GB 7200rpm HDD.

    Thank you for your time.

How exactly does it not fit? Did you put the correct faceplate on it?

At any rate, don't forget the Zbook comes with premium 24-hour technical support... so I would suggest calling, emailing or chatting with them.

Yep, known problem with Zbook 15. the upgrade bay has the same part number /SKU as it does for the 8560w/8570w, but the bays are too tall to fit in the redesigned slot. The Zbook 15 also has a different configuration for the retaining screw bracket. (where the screw secures the drive bay/optical bay to the chassis.)

None of the after market bays fit either. so yeah going to have to wait for someone to release a redesigned upgrade bay.

An alternative would be utilize the mSATA slot.
ZBook 15 BIOS has the boot from mSATA option.
You can pruchase a mSATA SSD, and move your system to the SSD.
Then you get the 9mm HDD available for data, and the maximum capacity on the market is 1.5TB.
I personally think 256G mSATA SSD + 1.5TB SATA3 HDD is a pretty sweet combination, speed + capacity.
And you get to keep your optical drive.

I just installed a 3rd party upgrade bay from Newmodeus.com. Nice anodized finish, matching faceplate now included (old version you had to use the one from the optical - new one is much nicer). Put in a 750 GB hybrid drive and it works well. Swap took two minutes - see their video instructions.

The product codes listed in all the specs (H2P66AA and LX733A) related to the Zbooks is wrong. The specified drives do not fit. The correct product code for the upgrade bay for the ZBooks 15 and 17 is: "G1Y56AA HP 2013 750 GB". I had tried both specified drives before HP came with the correct product code.
