    Hello,

I bought a used HP Zbook 17 G2 on ebay a couple days ago. It arrived today.

Since I didn't have any HP charger yet (already bought. I'm just waiting for arrival), I tried to turn it on with a Dell 240W charger (for Precisions. Same voltage and stuff) and, for my surprise, it didn't turn on. Laptop came without ram and a dead battery, so I had to use a stick I have here (8 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz).

It does have some blinking pattern, though. Caps lock and power LED are blinking every second and on the 4 leds below, second light and third light blinks (amber and white, respectively) and then the third light (white) blinks 3 times, restarting the loop right after.

I tried to change CPU (I have a i7 4700MQ that I know for sure it's working), GPU (it came with a K610, tried with Firepro W5170M and Firepro M6100), RAM sticks (tried with a 1.5v 8GB 1600 MHz) and different slots. I even tried to remove CMOS battery and using a different one that I know for sure it's working. Behavior was the same on all tests. Seller said keyboard wasn't working, but without CMOS battery, it tries to turn on, litting its light for less than a second and then giving the same blinking lights. The CMOS battery that came with laptop seems also to be dead, since it restarts the whole process and with the working battery, it just goes to blinking lights directly.

I couldn't see anything on screen, fan spins, but only at the beginning and then stops.

I have some experience with different Precisions, but I know absolutely nothing about HPs. Is this a power issue and a HP charger would be enough to suffice? I surely hope so, since seller said this laptop is working fine.

    Thanks in advance.

It's possible it doesn't like that it isn't using the official charger since you used the Precision one. And the bundled battery is dead as well hence the blinking lights. My 15 G2 does the same with the dead battery, and with the official adapter it still turns on though. You should have success when you plug in the official adapter, be it 65w or 150w.
