HP8760w - custom configuration - too tough for HP Europe/Benelux? Should I go with Dell instead?

    Hi,

I tried to get a quote for a custom configured HP Elitebook 8760w in Belgium. I configured it using the US HP site, where you can specify all kinds of interesting components.

I then put together a spreadsheet including all details and parts, spoke to HP Sales on the phone on July 12th, but now August 9th, I still haven't had a reply.

All in all, the US configuration would cost me about EUR 3500, including accessories (extra battery, dockingstation, trolley).

Basically, I just wanted the 674EA config, with an upgrade of processor and an SSD instead of the harddrive.

In contrast, I also checked with Dell, they gave me a quote within the hour and offered a competitive price with HP.

Does anyone have similar (or totally different) experiences with HP Sales? Are these laptops off-limits to mere mortals like me, and only available for Business Types?

Should I go with Dell instead? Their Next Business Day support is usually excellent. I'd rather not need it, obviously...

    Thanks for any pointers.

    Ronald

I would say if you don't have access to the HP business portal in Europe, I would go for Dell, it would be way too expensive...

German border is not too far away - and all covered by the EMEA warranty.

I´d go and get me a german HP Preferred Partner and order a custom configuration through the partner. There should be a couple in either Aachen, Köln or Bonn.
