Help needed, 50$ paypal reward immediately. Short and quick 8760w DC to 8770w TN

I'm traveling soon so I need a hand here.

I've 8770w non-dc FHD Matte
I bought 8760w DC2 screen.

LCD assembly was mounted on my 8770w. Works.

Problem: Can't control brightness, stuck at low.

Drivers reinstalled, OS reinstalled, Graphics card replaced, Checked cable mountings ... nada.

Some guy says I need different LCD cable.
Fine, but can't find it anywhere on the WEB.

First who helps me gets 50$ paypal payment immediately.

The problem was: When swapping the DreamColor Assembly from 8760w to 8770w I did remove the ambient light sensor board ( the board that should have WEBCAM/Microphones on it ) and replaced it with my own camera board from 8770w. There was a tiny cable with I left hanging loose. BIG MISTAKE.

That cable transfers the signal from the automatic light sensor to the motherboard and thus blocks any attempt to regulate brightness. I spent 3 days going through insane minutia - everything ranging from modding inf drivers to replacing gpus, registry modding, cleaning connectors and couplings... didn't give up, but did not succeed also.

My only mistake was that I replaced the ALS/Microphone small board module.
Just replaced the 8770w camera for the 8760w NO-CAMERA board, plugged the cable - voila! Brightness on the DC2 screen works fine!

The only issue, as others have reported, when going from 99 to 100 brightness the screen dims. No biggie. 99 will do fine.

My bios is locked with password (prev owner cant remember! ), so can't disable the automatic light sensor.

Interestingly the DC2 models go without CAMERA and the WWAN antennas?!

I manually had to fully disassemble the screen assemblies and transfer the antennas from 8770w to 8760w LCD assembly.
Sufficiently complex DIY. Very proud with myself.

I figure that the unit simply had the "without webcam" option, and I know that the DC2 makes WWAN unusable for some reason, and that they have thus never been bundled.

 

Are the dreamcolor easy to open because I was given a zbook 15 g3 from work to keep because a tiny bug got stuck in a screen.

Careful with the cables. Take it slow and be deliberate. I'd say is 5/10 scale of difficulty.

Upgraded my laptop from 8770 default IPS to RGB 10bit DC2 Screen.

The backlight wasn't working, but eventually I fixed it by plugging in the webcam module (which contained ambient light sensor) to from the 8760w to my 8770w. Immediately it worked flawlessly and the screen was detected.

Yes indeed my friend. I still put the cables and transferred the WWAN antennas in my DC2 screen assembly.
Probably will never use the WWAN 3G GPS Function,, but I have it installed and ready to go. Haven't noticed a problem with the screen and antennas, but still I put insulating agent - tape, between the WWAN antennas and the screen, just in case.

Overall apart from the webcam module/ambient light sensor fiasco, the DIY project was very enjoyable indeed.

Can you please tell me if you can install wwan on a DC equipped 8770w? I'm looking at getting one to fiddle around with, but there seems to be far fewer people modding these than other models. Thank you!
