I have a problem with my Hp Elitebook 8540w, when I'm browsing the web the wifi would all of a sudden turn off. In the bottom right hand corner there would be an X over the wireless bars. However the HP quick launch button for wifi would still remain blue instead of turning orange.

This is extremely annoying as I have to open up device manager and uninstall the wireless network (intel 6300N) and then rescan to install the drivers. It seems to reboot the wireless but I lose my saved passwords for all my networks, REALLY annoying.

I've already disabled the power-save sleep option for the wifi however that hasn't really fixed the issue. Does anyone out there have a solution for this problem?

    Hi,

I had the same problem on an 8440p and using the latest drivers helped.

Ok it seems like it was the power-save issue after all. The first time i disabled it and wifi remained stable, but when i switched power profiles, the power-save turned itself on, causing the wifi to turn itself off (ironic?). I've disabled the power-save feature on all profiles and this seems to work so far (fingers crossed). Hope this helps.
