I have an HP 8710W with stickers on the lid.
What's the recommended product to remove the stickers and the residue without damaging or discoloring the lid?
Thank you

Naptha (old-fashioned lighter fluid) works for me. I buy it in pint cans in the paint section at the hardware store--and it is fairly cheap. First apply it and let it soak a bit into the stickers or tape, then carefully scrape the sticky-goo-gunk, that is left, off with a plastic ice-scraper, fingernail, etc. (but not a metal implement). I've cleaned a lot of older HP laptops this way. Although naptha is a solvent that melts some plastics (and most adhesives), it doesn't seem to harm the HP covers. I don't think I'd let it sit on a notebook screen too long, though.
For what it's worth, I'm not a big fan of the newer aluminum elitebook covers. Although the lids maybe don't scratch quite as easily as the older HP's (like the 8710's), but they sure do dent easily. The older notebooks seem to hold up better, and continue to look good, over the long run. -
