The Macbook Pro is a reference trackpad for me and I feel it is excellent. How does the 8560w's trackpad compare?

This is the best endorsement I can give, having not worked with the new glass pads: It's the first touchpad I've ever used that made me ok with not using the TrackPoint/Pointing Styk/whatever HP calls it.
It's a glass pad, so it should be very similar to the newer MBP's. -
I agree, I'm happy to say that the trackpad on the 8560w is the best I've tried on a Windows machine, very large and very nice.

It's the closest you can get to a mac trackpad on a PC.

I'm so happy to hear that! Does it support that nice, two fingered, super responsive scrolling?

I prefer 1 finger scrolling, but yeah. You get 2 finger, all the pinch and rotate stuff, and with Synaptics new drivers even get Scrybe which lets you draw a G and it'll go to Google, F for Facebook, etc.

It has the best & smoothest two finger scrolling on a pc laptop i've ever seen (HP elitebook, thinkpad T/W, Dell Latitude) However, mac is still better if you are comparing.

Ill tell you once my 8760W shows up, im still on the 8740W and MBP 17" primarily
OP what all are you using the trackpad for? depending on what you use it for normally will also depend on how happy you are with it. -
The feel is superb, and I much prefer the buttons to the integrated button on the MBP. However, the two finger scroll isnt nearly as good.

So, now having had my 8560 for a few days, I can say that overall the trackpad is decent. Not quite as good as my Sony Z13, and a far cry from the MBP. Outside of those two exceptions thought it's excellent. For whatever reason the MBP / magic trackpad are just heads above all other laptops. It's so far that it feels like a generation gap. I cannot believe that nobody other than Apple have mastered the trackpad and things like two fingered scroll. The strange thing about the 8560 is that it has a large, nearly MBP-sized trackpad, however the two-fingered scroll and tap-click are so much poorer than the MBP that I end up using only the left two square inches anyway. It's a shame really, but far better than the last generation of Elitebooks with Alps trackpads or the Dell M4600 with an Alps.

did you upgrade the synaptics driver? makes one heck of a difference

So because that seems to be the right place for it, some of my observations regarding the Touchpad:
On the first days of using the touchpad, i often had the problem that if i wanted to two-finger scroll, the scrollbar appeared but nothing happened. Then I found out why this was the case:
- If I had any pdf-documents open in a browser tab (firefox), those documents always catch the "focus", even if I was using another tab. So the pdf on a different tab was scrolling up an down, but not the page on the tab i was using. Setting firefox to open pdf's outside the browser solved that.
-Same focus problem was occuring on any pages with flash videos (youtoube etc.) after I clicked on the flash video to start it. It is necessary to click on any free area outside the flash item afterwarsds to give back the focus to the page, then it will be able to scroll again.
After following those rules i never had that "Slider shows but nothing is happening"-problem again. Since then i have hardly used my bluetooth mouse again, because othewise i think the touchpad is great. However I can't compare it to the MBP since i never used one for more than 5 minutes...
How does the 8560w's trackpad vs. MBP
