Hi, just wondering how much everyone has paid for their elitebook. I got an offer to buy a 8440w elitebook, i7 620m, 4gb ram for 900 dollars with close to 3 year warranty, wondering if I should buy it for the price or if its too high for these laptops. Its basically brandnew the company is going out of business and needs to liquidate its assets, it was purchased in August of this year and still in box.

seems to me a good deal. I paid 850 Euro for a 8530w, C2D P8600, 2GB in Germany, and this was already a good deal.

That's an awesome deal; if the warranty is transferable, and I think it is (call HP and ask to make sure), go for it. Normally an 8440w with those specs is $1,500-1,600.

I don't know about germany but in the US, usually you get educational discount through your university, about 10-25 percent depending on the deal the university has with the manufacturer.
