Hp 2510p notebook

Hello
Had this notebook for somtime now however of late have moved to a faster system due to limitations. Here are some of the upgrades i am considering to make this notebook usable.

Ssd

USB3
54mm Express Card to 2 USB 3.0 Ports

Questions are these options likely to work? plan to boot from the sdd in the caddy and what are the likely issues i should expect

- at some stage I will have to let this notebook go no matter how much like using it, the SSD is a purchase keeping in mind future requirements.
- As for the Express Card if you run a check on Cellular factory or for that matter Ebay one can find plenty of options

I dont think this is a good idea. The Cpu is just too slow to profit from those upgrades.

Please bear with me I do have a customised gaming SagerNotebook with the works which i am usinfg presently besides a toshiba notebook - while it is good the sager is heavy - just bought it couple of months back

Thank you for your feedback and you are absolutely right.

The max Cpu upgrade is the u7700 not much if a difference between the two

- I do have two other notebooks on hand a customised Sager Gaming notebook and a Toshiba notebook the Sager is a recent purchase and presently not looking at another purchase in the notebook segment. The ultrabooks have limitations and like the 2510p I do not understand how Hp went ahead with the Toshiba 1.8" drives in this case considering there is no future path [ workarounds are always not efficient - as is the case with the caddy ].

Seriously I believe that Hdd - Sdd | Ram | Processors must have a future path even in ultrabooks. In fact will go to the extent to say that these upgrades should slot directly into the laptop without the use of a tool, as is the case with the battery pack on the 2510p or an express card [ flip a couple of locks and out comes the old part ready for an upgrade replacement]. All observations are based on practical use of notebooks and by no means have any tech knowledge.

All said and done yes I need a lighter gadget and somewhere down the line if i get tired of it will swap the SSD into the new unit. The ram upgrade has no future - with full knowledge. FYI Play no games or watch movies on any of my laptops so this will be okay for now.

In any case all present notebooks processors will be outdated when production on these new products go on line. [ refer links below ]

Well, i like the 1,8" drives. The last geneartion of Toshiba xx33GSG really imrpoved in terms of speed. And nowadays you can buy 1,8" ssd or msata drives + caddy to fit in that 1,8" slot.

Well thank you for this feedback, will cancell immediately - Have moved all my attachments to Usb3.
Just fot information you do get pc card adapters are they any good

or look at a USB 3.0 over a lan connection - the lan connection is not used - Iam also not sure these are available. Heard of the USB3.0 to lan but not lan to USB3.0 any recommendations


- my objective is to complete all the upgrades at one go and utilise whatever is available on the notebook, use it for some time and pass it on.

Have already resigned myself to usb2 interface - in fact I shoulld not be disappointed at all as the notebook was lying unused for a very long time - couple of years.
