    Hey guys,

My laptop's screen after about 60 seconds of no use seems to go black however the backlight is still on. If I hit any button or move touchpad the screen comes back up. I tried changing the settings in the control panel however it didn't change anything. Any ideas on how to fix or change this? What's going on?

    Thanks.

    shouldn't be no,

I am trying to think of the solution, this happened to me on an old NW8000 series, it was something to do with either quicklaunch buttons/ambient light sensor which was stopping the windows display blanking and dimming from working,

It was definitely a driver related issue back then. check for new bios, and than drivers are installed properly.

What happens is the screen gets a V_BLANK signal which makes it go black. The backlight is meant to follow suit, your display isn't doing that sadly.

Thanks for the reply. What's the best way to check for bios updates?
