I have 2 Business class notebooks the nc8430 and nc8510p. I am looking to get 2 new laptops. Any suggestions.

Primary use: Internet, Video and Photo editing. Some gaming.

Thanks for the info and side note

Looking at the the new models, why choose the 8560p over the 8560w?

    ELITE: XU063UT
    WORKSTATION: XU083UT

Seem to be around the same price ($50 difference on HP, I would not buy there though). except the Workstation has more Memory, Larger battery, and higher resolution screen?

    Thoughts over the 2?

I'd suggest crossover to Lenovo or Dell. HP's latest trails the pack by missing out on mSATA and switchable graphics.

Lenovo W520 is a nice machine. Can be had for a decent price at the Barnes and Noble portal too. Eg: i7-quad, FHD, FX2000M Optimus graphics.

Could you post some additional specs on the 8560p and 8560w that you found? The 8560w is basically the workstation version of the 8560p. Normally you'd want to go with the 8560p, unless you're doing CAD design or use any workstation-type program that requires ISV certification. That said, if the 8560w has more memory, a bigger battery, and a higher-resolution screen for only $50 more, then by all means go for the 8560w. Some people worry that games may not run as well on a workstation-type graphics card, but I've never had such issues with my nw8440, which is the workstation version of your nc8430 (my issues are caused by the fact that the graphics chipset is so old, not because it's a workstation chipset ).

Now, if you absolutely must have a 16:10 screen, then your best option is the EliteBook 8530p/8530w. This was the last 15.4" 16:10 business-class machine HP made before switching to 16:9 screens for the 8540p/8540w (the predecessor to the 8560p/8560w).

Thanks for the feedback. I the idea of having a 1920x1080 res for a screen. I like my 1680x1050, i just don't want to go lower than that. I think I know what I will do... 8560w all the way
