    Hi provided I remove the hdd, can I use a mstata ssd drive I recently acquired as a main os drive and storage. I have read that 8770w have limitations as to how you can use the msata slot.

    I doubt you will have an issue. It was easy peasy to install m.2 sata6 adapter with a m.2 nand drive.

    If the bios is like mine in the 6570b, you have options for your os and hardware choices. Disable fast boot, enable uefi (non hybrid), set sata speed to 6, and disable secure boot.
