    Hi everyone,

I have an elderly but very capable Evo N600c that I absolutely have to have for my business. I require a laptop with parallel and serial ports for a vertical app. This one has worked quite well until recently.

My battery shows 4 dots on the built in 5 dot charge meter. The laptop Power control panel shows that there is no battery present. I tried another battery from a friend's N600c and it powered up perfectly. I also tried cleaning the contacts on my battery with alcohol, and that didn't work.

I've read advice here to other posters who've had similar problems, and they were told to reinstall their ACPI power management bits from MS, and update certain drivers. I am not sure this would work since the laptop recognized another battery but not mine.

I'd like to be able to use this laptop for my mobile business, and I'd also like to save a battery that seems to be fine other than not being recognized by the laptop. What should I do?
