    Hi,

I've got a 6735s that's starting to get a bit old, and since it's got a dead battery, constant near-overheating problems (doesn't shut down but is almost always uncomfortably warm) and it no longer has any warranty I thought it could do with some fixing up.

After googling a bit it seems like you can switch out the CPU (right now it has a Sempron SI-40) for a Turion X2 RM-70 which seem to be selling for 20-30£ on ebay, and I though I could clean out the system, add new paste etc while I'm at it.

Will the Turion X2 RM-70 be a match for this computer? I was looking at the TDP's and the turion has 31w vs the 25w of the Sempron, will this be a problem? Do you guys have any other tips for processors that would be a good choice?

The other thing that was bothering me was disassembly. I have never opened up a laptop or done anything more advanced than remove the battery, though I have built a desktop PC some years back and given it some upgrades through the years.

I found this disassembly guide, is this the most effective/fastest way to reach the CPU or do you guys have some other tips?

    Any help is appreciated!
