    Hello.

Hopefully somebody still remembers this oldie and has some suggestions.

The system with an original XP got to me completely messed up and I had to reformat it.

I installed XP SP3 on it and quickly found out that there weren't any drivers for its builtin ATI (being an ATI, it's not even recognized by ATI's own detector).

Some W2K drivers I found, wouldn't install because for some reason, the standard VGA driver that got installed by XP SP3, was yellow-flagged. It couldn't find the drivers for it somehow.

Letting it go online, trying a different SP3 CD, didn't make a difference.
Trying all relevant SP3's ATI drivers also didn't get me anywhere.

The HP site has only drivers for W98 by the way.

So how can I get around it?
Even that VGA yellow-flag that should have been easy to fix, seems harder than usual.

Any working sequence and/or drivers for it?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

wow this girl is a blast from the past!

right, I've had a mooch about for if i have one from this era, and it seems you're unlucky :(

It will have either a ATI Rage Mobility M 4MB Graphics Accelerator if you have a Celeron, or an ATI Rage Mobility M1 8MB Graphics Accelerator if you have the Pentium III version.

if you can go into the device manager and double click the VGA adapter with the little yellow "!" then go to the details tab and under Hardware ID's post back with the topmost one.

it will look something similar to:

\VEN_1002&DEV_4C4D&SUBSYS_B1110E11 (This card is the M1)

I have placed one of the (very few) XP drivers that hp did for the Mobility Rage here:
Mobility Rage M/M1 XP Driver - Jul 2002

However, if this doesn't work - give me the code like listed above, and i will find it for ya :)

Congrats on having one that still is functional!

I have one OB6000 with SXGA+ at home waiting for Windows reinstallation ;)

Very few scratches but it still works like new. I'd expect nothing less from a laptop that cost over 5000 euros new almost 10 years ago :D

    The id is:
    \VEN_1002&DEV_4C59&SUBSYS_0027103C&REV_00
It has a Pentium 4 in it.

Was it 5K euro or so? I don't remember.
I took it as a gift for my daughter 10 years ago and now my wife wants to use it. I thought she had thrown it out by now but I guess I was judging by the rate I replace my computers.

Thank you all for the effort to restore this museum piece.

    P.S.
    1. I still don't know if the ATI driver will get past the VGA yellow flag.
    2. Aren't the driver file sizes interesting? 3 MB vs the 120MB+ that they are nowadays.

P4, that would be OB6100 series then :) Mine's P3-800, good old workhorse.

That was pretty much full specced back then. Lucky me I didn't buy it as new, I know the price since my former employer used to sell them... :D

you are in luck my friend

there is an omega modded driver from 2010 which supports the Mobility M6

download the top link from the archive page:

    HERE: Radeon Archived XP Drivers

You need to ensure when asked that FAST WRITES are off, or you'll get bluescreens.

    Enjoy.

Thank you all and hats off to you Siorah.

The Omega set worked just fine. It even cleared another yellow flag I had for some Ali Audio acceleration device.

    Much appreciated for the help.

    Regards.
