    Hello folks

Got myself a new HP 8740w and a NZ223AA advanced dock.
Unfortunately the notebook does not power on when attached to the dock and the battery is removed. With the battery attached it will run (on battery) and everything works. It seems that the dock does not supply power to the notebook. Power supply of the dock is ok, dock itself works fine (except power). All external devices plugged into the dock are ok and working, also they get power from the dock.
Is the problem known? Are there any solutions?

I have heard of defective NZ223AA, they do not charge the battery (a few popped up on Ebay with that fault) but your problem seems different.

You have the 230 W power supply, right?

My notebook uses a 200W PSU the dock comes with the 230W PSU. Should be enough for a dualcore CPU and the ATI-GPU

Don't the new docks have little LED indicator of connected PSU? Older docks (standard and advanced) have the LED.

Btw those symptoms looks same as when I've connected my 90W adapter to 8510p+standard dock - dock features requiring power wouldn't work.

The little LED indicator says: PSU connected...
The little 8740w says: No power
Dock is on its way back to seller
    I´m waiting for refund.

could it be that the connector of the 8740w itself has a problem? I mean, have you successfully docked it to another dock?

New dock arrived today. No problems so far.
Conclusion: Originally purchased dock was defective.
