It dims down like 20-40% from time to time and then goes back to full after few minutes.
Anyone had this problem like that ? Would it be driver or hardware-related ?
HP 6930p on XP 32bit. I have the quicklaunch software controlling brightness installed but this was happening in the same way when I didn't have the driver (so had full brightness by default) so I start suspecting it may be a faulty inverter ?

it could be the light sensor, FN 11 toggles it on/off (however, not sure your 6930p has one)

Yes I forgot to add I suspected the light sensor first but I disabled it completely in bios and still same.
I think the occurences are getting more often so to me looks more likely to be hardware-related.

if you are sure the light sensor does not work (try it with a flash light) then it may be some kind of energy saving, so check if your settings are ok. Or some kind of screen saver?

You can always turn the light sensor on and check if something changes.

Nope, setting stable and no other software than the quicklaunch and I've made sure it's not the sensor even when it's off.
updated ATI driver today and will try later to put the sensor back on so we'll see

    Hi Indrek :)
yep it's the CCFL still, but less than 2 years old so that would be baad...
I ran mainly on AC so don't recall 100% if happens also on battery so will look into that too. using 2 different (both original) power supplies, don't think it's when cord gets loose

by the way, we can install last catalyst 13.1 from AMD straight without mods if you didn't know :)
