Is it possible to replace the GPU on the 8440w? I would like to put something more powerful in. Do you know of any GPUs that are compatible with it? Can the laptop handle the cooling?

Exploded view of 8440P + parts listing here shows it uses a UMA or discrete systemboard. There is no MXM graphics board option.

Meaning then if you have the UMA (Intel HD) graphics then consider a $220 x1.Opt GTX460 DIY ViDock via the expresscard slot to radically accelerate your graphics + provide multi-monitor output.

Is it the same for the 8440w? Or is it different?

Should be identical for the 8440w.

You can't replaces the GPU, it solder into the logic board. This is not like the other 15.4" or 17" model where the GPU or Graphic Card is not solder in.
