Looking to upgrade my 8440w to a 8560w and wondering what the exact specifications are for the 256SSD that comes from HP. Brand (I believe they are Intel drives), performance specs, etc.

Typically the big hardware manufactures use pretty slow SSDs in their equipment and charge full pop, so I typically get the laptop with the cheapest option and swop it out with an aftermarket drive but would like to stay all HP this time around.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the 80GB and 160GB drives shipped in the last months were normal Intel X25-M

as far as I know Intel has no drives with either 128 or 256GB specs...
Chance, that Samsung SSD 470 Series are used

If the Samsung SSD 470 series is used, that would be a good thing. I'll call HP and find out and post findings... I've tried this in the past and it's amazing how little sales folks know what's inside these things.

Spoke with a HP tech. Specs are as follows. No brand was mentioned and info is apparently not available. Sounds pretty decent.

"The drive weight is listed at 73 grams, has a height of .276 inches, width of 2.76 inches, is SATA Gen 2, can perform a max sequential read of 265 MB/s, and max sequential write of 220 mb/s, and has an operating temp of 32 degrees to 158 degrees Fahrenheit, but no brand is listed."

That's because then it's easier to switch brand/model if original one is in short supply.
