So i got this laptop from work and it had become my primary machine lately.
The only issue i got with it is it's crappy 1366x768 screen.
It's not the resolution as it is the screen quality itself that's really bad.
I can see the pixels and the color reproduction sucks to say the least.
I see on HP's website that this model also comes with a better 1600x900 screen but i am not sure which model i can eBay that will 100% fit it.
Can anyone help ?

Go to HP website, support & downloads. Download service manual and see the part numbers for high resolution display. Also note if you need a new LCD cable for the panel.
After you have the HP part number available, do a google search for it. Most probably some of the results will give you actual manufacturer part number.
After you'll have that part number, choose your preferred online shop
If you need the LCD cable too, check also HP Partsurfer. Those small parts can be quite reasonable there. -
I actually did that, the thing is, the service manual only lists 1366x768 screens and I do not know which one of them is of better quality than mine. For all I know they are all same crappy screens.
I was looking for an input about a screen that is better than mine, it's hard to know from a part number.
Thanks! -
Did you have correct pdf?
c02760808.pdf ( http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...support/SupportManual/c02760808/c02760808.pdf )
On page 116 there's listed some display assemblies with 1600x900 resolution. Since it includes everything, it's more expensive than plain panel.
I did read that twice thru but I couldn't find part number for the panel itself. Have you tried searching with those display assembly part numbers already? -
KLF, I appreciate the time you took to research this.
I did see this document, but if you notice in the title of the page it says
"For use only on HP Compaq 6555b, 6550b, and 6455b computer models"
while mine is 6540b, if you or anybody else can confirm those screens match my model i'll def. buy it.
I believe this is the document related to my model :

No I didn't notice Too many 6's 5's and 4's together.
Basically all panels themselves are universal today, there's only few panel manufacturers and they have standardized the connectors and cabling.
Still having someone to open their display and actually check the part number would be ideal
