Any indication if we look at previous generation which should be better? The only thing I think I have found out is that Lenovos displays are only good if you get the FHD 90% screens, not sure how true this is compared to competition. But do you think the elitebook is much better when its 1600x900 ?

All 14" screens are bad except for the Envy 14 Radiance screen, so I would say the screen quality should not affect your decision.

Just a big bump in price to get 1920x1080 screen and on thinkpads the 15" models are 500-600g heavier + how much bigger the PSU is :/

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I'm more interested in the text quality of the screen than the viewing angle or color reproduction. I will be using my laptop for documenting writing most of the time.

Are all HD+ 14" display has an excellent text quality or it depends on the lcd brand or lcd technology that it use?

I ask this question is there isn't any 14" HD+ screen laptop on demo here at Best Buy in San Francisco or Daily City.

You might try the Stanford University Bookstore --- they have their computer inventory on the web and could have some models you can look at in person.
