Few days ago I was very excited to finally post here and be owner of an 8770w elitebook.

Actually things were not that easy, as I ordered the laptop and it arrived with a big dent on
it. It was amazing to see how they could miss this! as the box was not damaged at all !
So I sent it back and asked for replacement. and Voila ! I finally got my new elitebook :)

    Hewlett Packard HP Smart Buy EliteBook 8770w i7-3630QM 8GB 750GB DVD/RW 17.3" W8P # C6Y84UT#ABA

There was a little shock trace on the left corner but I was tired of all that $hit and wanted to
start using my laptop. I needed it for my work and was about to quite US for work and would
be back home (in France) In January. Only few days after my departure and while enjoying
the good feeling of using this brand new laptop it just shut down as if it was out of battery!
But it was connected to electricity! I tried turning it back on and nothing! it's dead!

Contacted tech support and they say nothing can be done during the period I travel everyday
and have to call them back with my case number when back home!

I'm so disappointed. Now I find myself without my computer for my work and in big trouble!
is it normal that such expensive laptops arrive in such poor condition? Mine cost me 2500$

Anyway if anyone here have any idea what could be wrong plz help me get this back working!
I need it bad! I will have to buy a laptop for the 15 remaining days till I get back :(

Sorry for your problems, but things happen. Here, my brand new 6570b arrived with dead pixels + audio distortions. Has been for repair for 4 weeks, no parts stock in this part of the world, they had to order and wait for a new screen + mobo, then the new mobo was defective as well (!) then back to waiting. Maybe ready some time in 2013 lol

Very good communication with HP (they acknowledged the defects immediately and was offered on-place service when parts arrived), but choose to send it in telling them it's ok to wait, (have other laptops working fine), otherwise they would have exchanged the whole laptop. Either I get my money back, a new laptop, or a working machine in the end, thankfully I have room for patience in this case.

But none of this should have happened, they should have had their quality control working properly in the 1st place, and certainly not expected vs my previous good experience with the HP 'business' products (can't buy Lenovo as I need a fully working sound card with no restrictions).

Well I contacted the vendor and they proposed to change it for me. I ordered and new one and sending the defective for refund.
I am very happy with the online shop I bought it from. Back to get back to HP they should really do a better quality check before
sending out laptops and it will certainly cost them less to do so then to have them returned or repaired.

But for the few days that this laptop worked, it was such a great laptop and it felt so good working with it, that I can't live without
it now! :) I am waiting impatiently to get my hands back on the new 8770w.
