I bought a 9470m (demo version, just 1 year of warranty) at a bargain price.
Now the story is: it was working flawlessly, then I decided to clean it up before changing the HD with a SSD.
    Now it won't start again.
The power led (both the one near the keyboard and the one on the side) stays on permanently and the flash led switches from white to orange continously.
It happens whenever i plug in the battery or the power supply (it is not a bad poewrs supply, as i've got 2).

I thought it could be some humidity, or some drops of foam went inside... so i dried it all with an air dryer then i've put evverything back to its place (HD, also I tried to move the ram in the otehr slot) and magically it started back again!
So I shut down, moved the ram back to its original place and tried again with the battery...... sadly it happened again.
same problem and the notebook won't start!!! tried many combination, still won't start

can someone please tell me what this particular led situation:
"The power leds stay on permanently and the flash led switches from white to orange continously."
    means?
help me... i'm really upset
    thank u all guys

PS it is out of warranty

    thank you Sotton.
Anyway I used an air compressor and blowed the whole keyboard and the back.
now it's working again. Maybe that error is some kind of protection the system goes into.

I've checked your link but didn't find anything similar to my led situation.

Now it's turned on and i'll let it dry by itself (i hope lol)
what's your advice? waiting to definitely dry or keeping it powered ON

of course let it dry (a lot, 24 hours if possible even more) without power supply and battery. But if it works again I guess it is alright already. It depends of course how much humidity is/was in it.

be careful with an air compressor, always use something to block the fan because if it turns too high (direct blow from compressor) the bearings could be destroyed.

yep. i stopped the fan with my finger :D
the keyboard is still humid i think as some buttons are failing (B pressing over and over and another one :\)
Now i've shut it down, after i charged the battery to 100%. let's see what happens next

PS and i've been a dumb using foam (even if it was specifically for plastic) on keyobard

if you think it is moisture the best way to get rid of it is to put the laptop in a bag with rice and let it sit for a day or two depending on how much foam you got into it

i've left it all night upside down.
It must have been moisture cause after some hours it was working again.
if keyboard keeps on failing i'll use rice, otherwise i'll take the chance to buy an ITA keyboard :)

    Rice did not Work!
but i managed to find the faulty key that won't make the pc start.
it is the scroll key !!!
once that the scroll key works good the notebook easily starts without the led problems I told you!

so who will have the same led situation as mine in the future will know that is a keyboard problem :)

finally: i am waiting for the new ITA keyboard :D

and again: thank u all guys

    I've bought the ITA keyboard.
My PC assistant has changed it.
Now the problem is that on the right side, near enter key, it is not flat but has some space under.
I checked the screws, and it's all ok.
DO u think it is a problem that exists on all of these notebooks?

Hate to dig up an old thread, but I've recently got one of these laptops and it's acting strange with the keyboard too. Mainly it "sticks" the alt key on and makes it impossible to do anything. Rebooting will sometimes work, turning off the external mouse sometimes and other times just mashing various keys kicks it back into shape.

It's really frustrating and I've tried reseating the keyboard and that didn't help. I'm not really in the mood to spend $30 on a new keyboard in order to get it working, but this has to be a design flaw or some QA issue. Anyone with any more experience with this particular issues on this laptop?
