Hi,
I'm about to buy this notebook configured with 2GB RAM and I need to upgrade to 4GB. The store can't do this for me so I will do it myself. I checked out the service manual (p. 70) and it turns out that accessing the memory is more difficult than anticipated. As part of it, I will have to remove screw covers and there's no telling if they'll stick again. I'm not happy with doing that on a brand new notebook even though I'm experienced with notebook service. Should I go ahead?
The alternative is getting an HP home-class G62 notebook ( see some pics here) with stock 4GB and better graphics but appalling keyboard.

It shouldn't be too bad, if you don't feel comfortable doing it, go into a local IT Tech store and get them to do it.

Thanks. I got a good deal on this laptop and hopefully I won't have to get something else because of this setback.

It is doable but not easy. You need to unscrew and then slide the speakers out, more screws and slide the keyboard out. It can be tricky with the keyboard as they sometimes get stuck. Apply equal force to both sides and it will pop out.
