    Hi,
when i go to start up my hp i put in the win 7 installation disk and it wont let me repair so when i go to star windows the following blue screen comes up

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer .

    Ntfs.sys

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer . If this screen appears again, follow
    these steps :

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press f8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode/
    Technical information :

    *** STOP : 0x00000050 (0XFFFFF98001E40000,0X000000000000000000,0XFFFFF8801C213B4,0
    X0000000000000000)

    *** Ntfs.sys - Address FFFFF88001C213B4 base at FFFFF88001C16000, DateStamp 4a5bc14f

Also the laptop comes up with the same error when i try to run in safe mode.
    THANK YOU
    J

Check your hdd for errors in bios. I think that might be a hdd failure.

Hmm not sure off the top of my head where exactly the setting is but there should be an option for a quick scan, and a full scan that can take over an hour. Try running the longer scan. Windows saying that the hdd is functioning properly doesn't necessarily mean that it is.

Do you have any spare hdd's laying around? You might try installing windows on one and popping it in there to see if that helps. If it does then you just have a bad hdd.
